BOARD RULES

1.0 Rules may be subject to change from time to time when necessary, or as Fawndog sees fit. It's early days yet. An announcement will be made if changes happen.

1.1
One account per person only.
1.2
Do not spam the boards; i.e. post the same message many times in different threads, or post messages one after the other in the same thread. This includes 'bump' messages. Extra messages will simply be deleted.

1.3
Do not harass other users, be it on the boards or through private messages. This means exhibiting unwanted behaviour towards other members even after being told to stop, including but is not limited to: excessive spamming of messages, inappropriate sexual comments, insults, hatespeech, etc. If another user is harassing you, please contact a staff member.

1.4
Do not post content prohibited by forumotion's Terms of Service, as quoted below. Violations of this are a bannable offense.

By using the services offered by forumotion.com, the User agrees to use them in accordance with the purpose for which they were designed, and not to use the products and services to – in particular – encourage, promote or present in a favorable light:

  • Hacking, spamming, and attacks against networks and/or servers, phishing, malware, intrusion into the network of forumotion.com and third parties,

  • Content of a sexual, obscene, pornographic nature,

  • Violent, defamatory, discriminatory content, incitement to racial hatred, crimes against humanity,

  • The sharing, hosting, distribution or piracy of works and content protected by copyright and intellectual property, or any infringing practice,

  • The sale, exchange or donation of products subject to special legislation, medicinal products subject to medical prescription or not, narcotic drugs and other illicit substances,

  • Credit card fraud, or deceptive practices,

  • Violations of the rights and interests of minors,

  • Any behaviour contrary to the laws in force, affecting the rights of third parties, or prejudicial to them

1.5
Just to reiterate: hateful, prejudiced remarks or content, i.e. racism/homophobia/transphobia/sexism/ableism, are not welcome here. Context matters and genuine mistakes are forgivable, but too many strikes may result in a ban. Swearing is ok. Slurs are not.

1.6
Be mindful when posting content that might be sensitive to other users (including but not limited to topics of abuse, assault, drug use, excessive gore or violence, etc.).
I am a spoiler tag. You can list content warnings here. click me:

1.7
When posting images not created by you, remember to credit the source and link back if necessary.

1.8
Keep communication civil and do not insult other members. Generally just be a decent human being and we'll all get along fine! Staff are here to help, not hinder you. If in doubt about anything, ask at the Helpdesk.

ROLEPLAY RULES

2.0
Posts in-character should be at least 100 words long and in third-person.

2.1
You are allowed to create up to three Resident characters in your first month of active play. After that, you can have as many characters as you want. There is no limit on Traveller characters.

2.2
When creating fantasy characters, stick to beings from folklore and mythology rather than franchises. Talking animals/animalfolk are also included. Do not submit characters that already exist in other media, they must be of your own creation, but you are certainly welcome to take inspiration from other sources. More specific guidelines on the Character Application form.

2.3
Out of character remarks in the roleplay areas should be indicated by the following format - [OOC:  ]

2.4
Roleplay threads can be marked Open or Private in the topic title. Open indicates that anyone can jump in and respond, Private means it is reserved for particular characters/players. If a thread is unmarked, it will be assumed to be Open. Please do not post in threads marked private unless you have been invited. Maximum cap of four different users in one thread please, just to keep things moving along!

2.5
Characters can be in more than one thread if established that the threads do not take place at the same time, but do not take on more than three active threads at once with the same character to leave room for others to join.

2.6
If you feel a thread is complete, you can post a reply to mark it so and it will be moved to the Archive board. Inactive threads that have not been updated in more than three months will be moved to the Archive board. If you are too busy to respond for a while you can always post a OOC reply saying so and that will count as an update to the thread.

2.7 Do not touch or move other people's characters without their permission. Asking is always good, but a good way to put it in writing, for example: "He reached to grab their hand" vs. "He grabbed their hand" so that your roleplay partner can decide to do something in their response first.

2.8 Content prohibited by the forumotion Terms of Service (as listed in section 1.4) is not allowed in roleplay. This means no excessive violence or sexual content, and ABSOLUTELY no sexual or suggestive content involving minors. Suggestive roleplay between adult characters is ok, but have it fade to black past a certain point. If you want to continue that in your own spaces you are free to, but please keep the board relatively clean.
2.8a
ABSOLUTELY no sexual content involving minors, imagined or real.

2.9
Overt roleplay of sensitive and potentially traumatic topics (eg: abuse, assault, incest, etc.) is not allowed on the boards. The Rest Stop was built to be a comforting place. That said,
2.9a
...alluding to trauma in a character's past is not against the rules, but be mindful that not everyone will want to engage with or view such content. You must give appropriate warnings and talk to any roleplay partners beforehand about any of these situations - it might seem trivial because it's just fiction, but you don't know what different people's lives are like and consent is important. Real people's safety and mental health is more important than fiction. These things sometimes need to be examined on a case by case basis - if you are unsure about any particular situation, please PM Swift.

2.10
Just be a respectful and considerate roleplayer! This board is here to be a fun exercise in creating a world we can all enjoy. If in doubt about anything, ask at the Helpdesk.
